Thank you~!

I was on a forum that used to talk about this kind of stuff, but it turned into a circle-jerk where dissenting opinions weren't tolerated no matter how politely stated or logically supported. The argument that got me kicked out was a discussion of Biblical ethics regarding warfare. The majority argument was based on a blog article, and mine was based on the Bible itself. (I used to be a Messianic sect Jew, and as such; I have a great many of the Bible's verses memorized and know a modicum of Hebrew.) Naturally, I won the argument from a logical standpoint, but they got all butt-hurt because I follow Shinto now, called me anti-christian, called me "libtard" (funny because I'm actually more or less anti-political), and asked me to leave. So I did. I was unaware that quoting the Bible while pagan was a crime... jeez.

Anywho, this new forum will fill the gap left by the old.

I have noticed that in some conversations some people can't agree you have a good point, and instead will lower the conversation to name calling to try to cover up the fact they don't really know or don not fully understand the subject topic and argue for the sake of arguing.  I have listened to my husband who is very intelligent try to reason with these people and it can be so frustrating that they can not see logic, but it like trying to convince my screen door.  Sometimes they fear being wrong, so instead of graciously seeing logic they fight back like a cornered dog, and they don't understand they can agree to dissagree.  I'll be interested to see what sujects come up.

It's far too common really.
